Jason Kidd had a talk with Kevin Garnett about his minutes and it didn’t go so well

Kevin Garnett is an old man in the NBA world and he’s racked up quite the mileage over the years, which is what entering the league when you’re 19 years old will do to you. But the impressive part about it is that, despite playing for 18 years, appearing in 1323 games and logging 47,801 minutes of game time, he’s still going strong and will play a pivotal role on a Brooklyn Nets team this season that would very well compete for a championship.

But he is 37 years old and for the Nets to give the Miami Heat a run for their money, Garnett will have to be healthy come Playoff time. And for that to happen, Jason Kidd plans to rest him on back-to-backs so that he can get his well deserved rest.

Fair enough, right?

The only problem is Garnett’s having absolutely none of it.

…Kidd already commands the respect of his players, who subscribed to the theory that he’ll relate better to them because of his recent playing tenure.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be bumps. Kidd spoke with Garnett recently about limiting the 37-year-old’s wear and tear by not allowing him to play games on consecutive days.

“It didn’t go too well,” Garnett said. “I understand what he’s saying. He just wants to make sure I’m durable. … I just don’t want to be told anything. I think I’ve earned the right to have an opinion on something that I’m doing. From a chemistry standpoint, I think it’s important for me to be out there with everybody.”

I think I speak for us all when I say, “good luck, Jason.”
