Remember when Paul Pierce said that the Brooklyn Nets are ready to take over New York? Well, J.R. Smith wasn’t happy about it, so he fired back, saying that Paul is just a bitter person who, “doesn’t really know what New York is all about.”
In other words, he added a splash of fuel to the Battle of the Boroughs fire.
Oh, but he didn’t stop there.
In a question-and-answer session at Chelsea Piers late last week, Smith said that he decided to sign with the Knicks instead of the Nets last season when he came back from China because, “the Nets weren’t good.” And, according to J.R., “they’re still not good.”
There goes another glug of fuel.
And if all that wasn’t enough, J.R. let everyone know that he is “100 percent sure” the Knicks will win an NBA title this season, which tickled Reggie Evans’ fancy:
